1. Pressure bandage to control bleeding
    •  Place rolled gauze directly over wound
    •  Keep firm constant pressure on gauze
    •  Change gauze when it becomes saturated
    •  Continue to replace gauze until bleeding is controlled - usually 1 hour
    •  There may be some oozing of blood for up to 24 hours

2. Some discomfort is to be expected following any surgery
    •  Take OTC (Advil, Tylenol) or Prescription as needed
    •  Take pain medication before anesthesia is completely gone
    •  If antibiotic is prescribed, take as directed until gone

3. Do not disturb the wound
    •  Avoid using straws, spitting, smoking or strenuous activity for 1-3 days
    •  Keep your teeth and extraction site clean
    •  Brush teeth normally, try not to disturb wound
    •  Day after surgery begin rinsing gently with warm salt water (8 oz. warm        water and 1 tsp. salt) continue 3-4 times daily for 3-7 days

4. Drink plenty of fluids and soft food which you can tolerate

5. Rest (keep head elevated)

6. Swelling-impactions mainly
    •  Use ice bag on day of surgery only
    •  10 minutes on and 10 minutes off

7. Please notify us if fever of excessive discomfort should occur
